Every use-case workshop ends with a two-by-two of value and feasibility. The column that predicts success is the one that is usually missing: ownership.

The third column

For each candidate, write the name of the person who will be accountable for the outcome in production. If the cell stays empty, the use case is not ready, however good it looks.

Fund the few

Rank on all three, then fund the top two or three properly. A long list of half-funded ideas is how programmes stall.

“A use case without an owner is a wish.”

Key takeaways

  • Add an owner column to every ranking.

  • An empty owner cell means not yet.

  • Fund two or three use cases properly.
